The genre of my music magazine will be pop and will be aimed at a teenage girl audience aged between 13 and 17.
This age group like mainstream music artists with up to date gossip and exclusive news which is set in an easy to read way. They dislike loads of text about boring things which are out of date.
The price will be £3 which isn't too much for this age group to afford and it will be a monthly magazine so will be a larger magazine so more worth the money.
For the look of my magazine I looked at 'Billboard' and 'Nylon' magazine. I like the way they set out their font covers in the way that they have only one main image with small amounts of text around it. I think it makes it look less confusing and more simple and easier to read. I also think my target audience would want to buy a more grown up looking magazine rather than one which looks too childish like the 'Top of the pops' magazine sometimes does.
The name of the magazine will either be a girly name such as 'Bloom' or something more related to music like 'Replay'.
The house style will be bright with girly colours like pink, purple, yellow and light blue. The fonts will be simple but girly to attract the female audience and will be bold for the masthead and the main cover line and less bold for the other cover lines.
There will be one main image on the front cover of a new girl group, and this will be the group I will focus my double page spread on. The double page spread will be a question and answer interview and there will be more images of the girl group around the text. In it the readers will find out more about the group and how they came about bringing out an album.
The unique selling point to this magazine is that there will be exclusive concert reviews and as well as showing mainstream artists it will also help newer groups get more well known. The inducement for the magazine is that the reader will get a free iTunes download of the new girl groups album as well as two full sized posters of other mainstream artists.
From looking at these magazines I have learnt about the layout of certain magazines and I now have a better idea of what I want to do with my own.
